Even Dr. Gray, who led the [African] trials, is not sure the United States should promote circumcision. “If you were to ask me, should the U.S. be promoting circumcision, my answer would be, ‘no,’ ” he said. “What I do think ought to be the policy is that parents should be informed about the potential protective effects.”
Dear Dr. Gray,
Potential protective effects should properly be addressed to the adult male. Not the parents of the infant boy. Why is that so hard to understand? Why is it so hard to fathom that some men will reject circumcision and accept the risks, however they may be interpreted by you or anyone else? Why is it so hard to understand that male human beings have a right keep their foreskins and opt for condoms when and where necessary? Why is it so hard for you and your colleagues to understand that it is unethical to impose your beliefs on others?
